Blogging anniversary

Last week marked the 2 year anniversary of my blog, Life as The Lonsdales. I can’t believe it’s been 2 years since I signed up to WordPress.com and wrote my first blog post! It still baffles me that 2 years on I’m still here writing and people still stop by my blog to read what I write.

When I hit ‘publish’ on my first blog post 2 years ago, I was just writing for me. (I thought the only person that would read what I wrote was myself anyway, why would anyone else want to read what I had to say?) So I started my blog. I started my blog because I’d read blogs written by other mums and it inspired me to start my own. I use blogging as an outlet and as a way to document my journey through motherhood but without realising it, by writing honestly about being a parent and the struggles that come with it, I have also helped other mums through their own motherhood journeys. And with that, I gained followers, a larger audience and my blogs traffic grew. I was no longer just writing for myself anymore.

Not only do I write about motherhood struggles, honest parenting and family life which is the content that I built this blog on but in the past 2 years i’ve also shared DIY projects, i’ve wrote about my hobbies, personal reflections, traveling, holidays and so much more. When it comes to my blog, I like to write about what’s going on in my life at that moment in time. So, if I’m having a good day, I want to write about it. If I’ve struggled with something, I’m going to share that. I like to be open and honest with my readers, there’s something about writing about personal stories or experiences that other people may find helpful, beneficial or relatable that I find nice. And then other times I like to keep it light and fun and share tips and tricks or a fun new DIY project!

I have worked with some brands that I share a mutual interest in or that are relevant to my blog but I don’t want to use my blog simply to make money. Starting this blog was never a business decision, if I make some money along the way then that’s great! But I’m quite happy to continue writing just for fun.

So to mark this 2 year blogging anniversary, I wanted to thank all of my readers for following my blog, reading my posts and what I have to say and with that making it possible for me to continue blogging. Without you, this blog would be a much more lonely experience for me. So thank you!

If you would like to start your own blog, have a read through my previous blog post If you’re thinking of starting a blog – stop lurking and start writing! Where I share tips for the newbie blogger.

Thank you for supporting me, for reading yet another of my blog posts and I hope you continue to enjoy my blog!
